HP are advertising on TV cartridges that have longer lives compared to other manufacturers(the ones with the cartoon peacock)

Has anyone else noticed that the on screen small print refers to tests done in 2006 & 2007.

Why wouldnt they have done tests in 2009?

Wouldnt this preclude any developments by their competitors since 2006/7?

Seems a bit strange to me

Might have taken a year or two to test. Could be many factors. Might have planned to release the advert before the recession hit. Then had second thoughts.

Inkjet printers are probably one of the biggest rip-offs in IT at the moment. I cannot believe that people are prepared to shell out £25-30 every couple of months to keep a printer going! I've had a HP Laserjet printer for around 10yrs now - needs a £30 toner every 10,000 pages!

Luke - Not sure a big company like HP would take 2 years to test their competitors printers against their own.

Bandmich - I hear what you are saying but arent there laws that say adverts have to be accurate and fair. Comparing their current range against their competitors printers from 2 years ago is unfaur and misleading

Jaytag - Totally agree with you, lasers are the only way forward for long life. Although laser toner pricing is a whole new minefield. I purchased a laser printer two years ago for £70 and the toner finally ran out a couple of months back. Replacement toner was £80 or I could buy a new laser printer for £70.
