this is the thinking behind the concept.....

Baby is asleep...

Baby wakes....

Computerised cot senses that baby is awake...

Cot switches on T.V,which is at the far end of the cot....

D.V.D. of Tweenies/Fimbles/Teletubbies/Little Britain starts to play....

Baby happy....

Mum and Dad happy...

Cot manufacturers happy....

Sales of Tweenies/Fimbles/Teletubbies/Little Britain go through the roof..

Matt Lucas and David Walliams of Little Britain happy....

I need £100,000 to get project of the ground....

For me this sounds awful. I already wish we could live in a world without TV so to pipe it into my babies' cot is just terrible.

Why would you wish people to spend even less time with their kids than they already do? Person to person contact is so very important to child development. Replacing mum or dads loving attention with a TV is, well, horrendous.

I agree with sillyjokes here, i couldnt think of anything worse. What do these telly programs teach children? And really do children need a telly infront of their faces first thing in the morning?

I dont think it would work.....

Yes, Whats wrong with a bit of old traditional mother or fatherly love to the awake child.

Instead of having an automated distraction unit for baby.

I do see your thoughts of the idea, but unsure I would buy....

Sorry Big No from me...Babies and electrical things don't mix, plus if the baby was i'll, maybe the parents wouldn't take any notice of the baby, thinking it's watching TV.

Big NO from me too. I totally despise having TVs in kids bedrooms - we already live in a world where TV rules kids lives, what happened to getting up in the morning and playing out all day, instead we have obese kids who sit in watching tv and playing on games, eating chocolate, crisps and other rubbish.

If it wasn't for Mrs Matrixx I wouldn't even have a tv in the house.

My opinion - absolutely not - bad for it's eyes, bad as the child could be choking (hence it wakes) and parents leave it to watch the tv, bad for kids to get used to watching tv instead of physically stimulating things.

Why breed a couch potato?

I have a 3 month old, and I wouldn't consider this at all.

If you had something that at a certain time turned all TV's off and put the kids to bed I would definately consider it :D:D

A number of cellphone operators in the US offer unlimited calling from the subscriber's home zone. They had to place a limit on the length of calls because parents began to use their phones as baby monitors.

Also, did you know that a company in Norway sells cellphones to the Under-5s? The handset has two buttons: one to reach mum and one to reach dad.

As for TVs etc. in cots, I must add my vote against it. When studying physics at university, I learned about the concerns some have about electric fields emanating from power lines. The strength of electric fields from that source is negligible compared with fields experienced within a few inches of electronic equipment. Worst of all are cellphones which generate enormously powerful electric fields.

I guess you would be against a complete stereo system,with four surround speakers in built into the cot as well....

Babies falling asleep to the gentle sounds of The Beautiful South and Coldplay!!!!!!!

Babies need to get with it!!!!!!

Those little wind up music cot toys with soft lights were a great hit with my babies to chill them out before they fell asleep for the night!

I certainly wouldn't put a tv in their cot! Why should the TV get those first morning smiles? Wouldn't have missed looking at the reaction of baby when they see mummy (or daddy) after a nice long sleep!

Now we're getting a little soppy!

This is the funnyist thread I have seen in a while, if this thread was not meant to be a joke I am sorry.

That product though would be teaching your kids how to become a professional doley watching TV all day!

No doubt this idea will be on Draggons den one day :D Rather like the tatty knickers with names on.

How about if you fitted the cot with a PS2 as well or an xbox as they will be going extremely cheap when the PS3 and xbox 360 come out?

You would have to develop small controllers for them and the games would also have to be simple...ha ha.

A few months ago I would of purchased a cot with a TV. My lovely little daughter was a right cry baby and hated sleeping, well at least through the night she did. Even her grandma refused to look after her overnight as she was so much work - not anymore though, sleeps for britain. Just got to persuade the grandma to look after once again.

Yes Nigel, haven't you seen them queing at Comet, it's like a dog fight with all those tiny tots fighting for DVD's and dolby sound systems :lol:

And that means we must give it to them, right... Better off getting them used to the word "no" from an early age. After a while they get over it, believe me.
