Inthos accounting software

Hi,

Just searched and found no results for Inthos.

Has anyone used this software, any comments?

I downloaded the free one, looks quite thorough, not the best user interface.

I'm also looking at TAS Books, Solar Accounts and Kashflow, really looking for a system that can process purchase orders, customer orders and control stock. Not sure i'm going to find it cheap!

I guess this is the problem going from a medium sized company to setting up a sole director company, i'm used to a full ERP system!

The free/sub-£500 products are very nice, but if you're used to full purchase ordering with goods/service-receipt, PL invoice matching, COGS accruals, sales order tracking with delivery notes, acknowledgements, quotes, pro-formas, inventory management, perpetual-stocktake etc you aren't going to get many of those features at that level.

Probably you should consider how much you really need those kind of features to begin with.

Have you considered Microsoft Accounting Express? It's free.

I have no experience in using it myself, but I have heard good reviews.

I will try the microsoft one aswell, using my laptop to trial them all before installing one on my business PC. I might be able to some something clever in Access to manage purchases, stock, orders outside of the accounting side.

The requirements?

Well must be capable of accounting for a limited VAT registered company. Would like multiple account codes for directors loan, samples, sales, various expense accounts etc.

Must be accrual based, not cash based accounting. Ideally allowing customer information to show when invoices are due/overdue.

I guess most things can be controlled with excel, it isn't a business with a high number of transactions.

and possibly the killer...

Be suitable for ISO9001 requirements?

ISO9001 shouldn't be a problem for any accounts software. Certification to an ISO 9001 standard does not guarantee any quality of end products and services; rather, it certifies that formalized business processes are being applied. I use Kashflow and find it very good.

Yes, if you want formalised business processes you just map them onto whatever business software you have chosen as most appropriate for your business needs. Otherwise the tail is wagging the dog.

Will try Fusion also. A quick glance on the website and it may have the features I require where other online systems fall short.

From what i've tried so far, most of these systems seem to work on 'invoices'.

With my type of business I may recieve an order tomorrow with a lead time of 12 weeks to delivery, the order may also have scheduled drops, lets say 50 1st Jan, 50 1st May, 100 1st July.

On an ERP system the open order book can be calculated seperately and invoices are not generated until the line is delivered.

How do people control scheduled orders and keep the figures showing in the accounts reports without raising an invoice?

Maybe i'm looking too much into this, if I get the point where I can't manually control the work required to meet a schedule then my business would be at a point where an ERP system would be worth considering.

Kathryn. Why don't you publish the costs of Fushion on your web site. I was going to download a trial but why should I bother when I might get huge uncompetitive charges afterwards.

I am sure than I am not the only one that hates these free trial come-ons where there is no transparency over costs and that could be losing you business.
