OK I have a background image for a website. It is 1600px x 1000px.

Are people using screen resolutions larger than this yet? The only reason I am asking is because the image cant be repeated as the graphics in the background don't align.

Many Thanks

Well im using 1920x1080

Can you not blend it into a solid background colour?

I guess that answers my question :D

I have tried blending and also a few other things but with no luck.

Think im going to look for an image that can be tiled.

Im looking for floorboards if anyone has something like that :p

If you search for 'wooden textures' on google a few of the top sites are really good. The first result is bittbox and all the textures are 2500px wide.

Sites without background images convert better than those that do.

Can't find the report though. It was a good test done a few years ago but it showed that simple colours as a background worked well but white backgrounds and no borders was best of all.

Do some split testing, site with background and site without. You will need eyetracking, getclicky or clicktrail or something to do the testing with.
