closing business dormant

hi,

could anyone please help me!!!!, ive registered a company just for the sake of it not really thinking of the complications accounts etc..

I havent used the name in any way, so could anyone advise me as to how i would close down the company?

Also i formed the company on the 10-08-2005 could anyone tell me if i have to file accounts even if i havent used the name to trade under?

A dormant business is just one that is not being used.
you can fill out a form to state that the business is dormant, and then you don't need to do any books etc. Just repeat process every year.

Firstly

A dormant business is one that does not trade and has no significant transactions in other words only paying companies house for the annual return is an example(This is important as a company can have a bank balance and receive interest on it which will therefore mean that it is not dormant).

If you leave the company as dormant you will still have to pay the fee for the annual return (£15 if done online and £30 if done by post) and you will still need to file accounts annually at companies house although if there has been no trading a simplified Balance sheet is sufficient(form DCA available from companies house website).

If you want to close the company completely then the simplest way would be to apply for a striking off. Complete form 652a and send with the £10 fee to companies house.

Of course you could always sell the company to someone else that wants a limited company.
