pay per sale?

Hi,

I've been looking at different ways to advertise a new web site. I read about Pay per sale, but couldn't find any prices anywhere. Are they expensive and are they worth the money. I just need to know roughly, so I can add it to my forecasting for set up costs.

What is the % to pay per sale then I pay them, couldn't find it. I looked on the sites you PM'd and couldn't find anything about costs. :D

I thought they advertised your site and for every customer who buys something, you pay the a %. If that is what you were saying, then yes.

Hi Jayne - this is called affiliate marketing - you have to pay a percentage fee to the network as well and usually a monthly fee too, so you will need to factor this into your commission per sale and profit margins. I have listed the main UK networks here: http://www.affiliatemax.com/top-ten.html - the lowest cost ones are Affiliate Future and Paid on Results.

The alternative is to buy a script (to track your affiliate sales) or use one that comes with your ecommerce package - however this means that you would have to recruit your own affiliates.

I am currently experimenting with affiliate marketing. The big guys such as Affiliate Window, Trade Doubler, Affiliate Future etc all charge over £1000 set up fees and around £50+ per month then you have to pay your affiliates when they get you an order (that amount is up to you). At this moment in time I have my sunglasses sites listed with www.clixgalore.com which has no setup or monthly fee but you have basic access (no promotion etc) and you do have to deposit at least £55 when you setup in order to pay the affiliates their commission. I've set it up a couple of weeks ago and so far have had no sales through it. Come next summer I may start to look into paying one of the top sites but as summer is nearly here then I can't see a huge demand for sunglasses (although my site still isn't doing to bad).

I have a couple of software products that I have affiliate programs for, never really promoted them much on the big affiliate sites though.

Maybe we should have a sticky thread here in one of the forums where Ozzy can post members affiliate programs so other members can find out about them.
