    Have been debating on which software to purchase for use on my home PC. I run the majority of my business from there so I don't want a basic option.

    I have looked at all of them, and with the big boys (Norton and McAfee) losing favour which one would you recommend??

    Any others you would recommend that are not on the list??

    what your looking for is a good but off the radar firewall/AV the more common a program the more people will have tried to and eventually found a way to break in...best option is a router with in built firewall then one on your pc itself....two firewalls..(different makes) makes a significant headache for hackers the other thing is make you site interesting to ONLY customers..there will be only two reasons for someone to hack your site...they dont like you/your service or its easy to get in..if your site contains no interesting data and has sufficent safegaurds then no one will bother unless you seriously annoy someone..

    congratulations on your site..it looks nice..wasnt sure what it was for till i clicked view basket...im assuming you got a company to make it? theres no significant weaknesses on the site itself..though you may wish to look and a couple of scripts you can include to stop people right clicking (normal way to get to "view source") and to stop people pasting into the text boxes (means that a hackers cant paste a fraudulent card number, they'd have to type it in)...im hoping that your website is on an independant pc and internet connection to anything with important data on it..

    Kaspersky is very good but I found it quite machine intensive. I use norton justnow but am concidering changing soon as ive heard of a few problems. I dont rate Panda or AVG at all. There was a realy good free one but I cant remember the name, it found heaps of junk on my machine where others found nothing.

    Cant reply to te poll as their is no single solution. IT Security is the day job and I have 2 mantras;

    Security by diversification - i.e. use different products for AV, spyware, firewall etc (and try to pick best of breed for each).

    Security by obscurity - don't always go for the most popular as it is the one that hackers woudl most likely to exploit any vulnerabilities.

    Good luck. Oh and yes I nearly forgot, don't publicise what defenses you have in place (gives the hacker a head start).
