I have a project where I need to create a unique designed online photo gallery that also allows you to purchase the photos.

Can anyone help me with my options here, and if they know of any ecommerce software that would be suitable.

I am experienced in html but not really any other script like php.

Its needs to be easily edited so I can use my own design with is very clean and simple, probably based on something like this site http://www.sparshattgalleries.com/index.php . Most of the ecommerce software I have used is based on a three column grid which I dont want.
Any help I would be very grateful.[/i]

Hi,

We have completed a couple of projects like this for clients and would like to discuss it further with you.

If interested please mail me [email protected] with any other information and links to your site so I can make you an offer.

Thanks

Checkout http://www.fototur.net/ for a flash based solution.

A few more questions for you - will you users be buying high res downloadable images or do you plan to send prints/cdrom?

If downloadable images, would they only be able to download once or over a period of time?

There are so many gallery applications out there - tell us how you want your website to work.

I think we are looking to do both.

I have been looking at http://www.lightboxphoto.com/ which seems to have the best functions with amendable templates which is what I am after, so I can use a unique design with strong fuctionality/ecommerce. Have you any experience with this product?

No I have not had any experience with the application - but it looks good and its good value for the money - they are also offering free installation.

Just make sure you get full access to the code - make sure you are able to change (add/modify) the code without having to go back to them. This is just incase you need to add a new feature or function to it in the future.

So you have the software - what are you waiting for? Get your website online and join the ecom wagon ;)

http://coppermine-gallery.net

- Open Source
- Widely used, lots of support
- Very dynamic, two sites need not look the same.
- Uses php and mysql but limited knowledge needed. Its got a good management system.

Definitely worth a look at least. Type "powered by coppermine" into google or visit the site for example sites that use the software.

Yes I did william, i went with www.lightboxphoto.com in the end as they have great support, its easy to amend the templates to your design, plenty of functions which are all control through a powerful and easy to use control panel. Some of the free software I looked at wasnt as good, and was a bit tricky to set up. Lightbox do this all for you and prvide free suport for a year.

I have been looking into selling photographic images, but also other related products - does lightbox allow you to sell other items or is it not that customizable?

Looks good though.

I think its just photos kate, but you get the option to either purchase a print or download a high res, you can contact lightbox on [email protected], they are really helpful and will install a demo for you to try out, but i dont think you will be able to customise it for oter products, good luck!
