Delivery of parcel

I have a parcel here in London that I need to get to Buxton, Derbyshire. It's quite heavy - 8000 A5 leaflets.

Whats the cheapest way to get this sent? Courier? Royal Mail?

I don't know which is most expensive, both I guess. Do you have a friend or someone who will deliver it for a bit of pocket money! Ask, someone may do it for you.

Translink station to station, or station to door might interest you. Depends on the weight really. The other option is to look up the Royal Mail site to find out the real cost & then call some couriers and compare the prices.

Strangely enough, we recently sent 8000 A4 Flyers to Yorkshire from Liverpool.

We put them all in one box, with a total weight of 42 kgs. It cost us around £60 with DHL.

Be very careful with the weight as if they only send out one driver, you will have to either put it on a pallet, or assist the driver with the lift, due to Health & Safety issues.

Thanks guys, just been quoted £300 by two companies, I'll find out what it is with the post office and if it comes to it I'll bribe someone with a special recipe for wakefield rice pudding to drive it up there for me

(I can only drive in theory not practice - need to get practical done by January or my theory expires!)

If you think it would be ok you could split into 3 or 4 parcels and send via most couriers for about £10/parcel.....

Hire a car from Easycar for the day and drive up!...cheaper than £300!

Go to Staples. The office stationary store-**very little known fact** They will courier up to 36kg(I think this is correct but don't quote me on exact weight) and their maximum charge within the UK is 8.00 GBP(as of 3-4 months ago)

I'm surprised Staples don't sing and dance about that a bit more.

Post office can do it for £11.65 per parcel (I've got it divided in two). This is for anything up to 20kg.

Or, if I wanted guaranteed next day - Parcelforce will do it for £43 (up to 40kg combined weight, max 30kg per parcel)

http://www.parcel2go.com/ is a reasonable service at £8.99 for up to 25kg and 4 cubic foot.

Havent used them previously in a business capacity but sending a few items I have sold on ebay went without a problem - the actual people doing the job are DHL but I am not sure what the relationship between parcel2go and DHL is.
