I need a book that explains in depth techniques for successful ecommerce sites.

I had a look in a big book shop today and all they had were books that explained how to build a site from a technical point of view - I already know enough to code and design the actual site.

What I need is a book that covers the techniques of selling/converting as successfully as possible online. The psychology of online shopping I suppose!

Basically I want to make a proper study of ecommerce and push things a little further, along with my own understanding. I already have a strong and growing site but anytime I'm not improving my competitors could be :) So best stay ahead...

Anyone read anything they would recommend?

Hello

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but i have been reading quite a bit of this fella's stuff recently, in my own research.

He seems to make a lot of sense to a researching amateur like me.

That looks more like advice on e-marketing strategies - or have I misread it completely?

Thanks for the link though :)

I'd take a look at anything by Jakob Nielsen or Steve Krug.

"[urlno="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dont-Make-Me-Think-Usability/dp/0321344758/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241538608&sr=8-1"]Don't make me think[/urlno]" in particular is supposed to be an excellent read.

Jeff Jarvis - [urlno="http://www.amazon.co.uk/What-Would-Google-Jeff-Jarvis/dp/0007312105/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241538731&sr=1-1"]What Would Google Do[/urlno] is also great.

Hope that helps
