anyone w/experience of www.nochex.com for taking payments?

    Hi there,
    I'm the publisher of a small quarterly magazine. We're hoping to expand our website so that we can accept credit card payments. We do not have a shopping basket for the site, or in fact much in the way of web authoring experience...

    Therefore, the simplest solution for us seemed to be Paypal 'Buy Now' buttons -- but i have experienced problems in trying to set these up, and this, combined with paypal's unhelpful customer support in trying to get to the bottom of the problem, has convinced me to look elsewhere. Nochex seems to offer the nearest similar thing -- does anyone have experience of them?

    I know there is a general thread about web payments, but thought i'd ask the question directly.

    Alternatively, if anyone out there is a whiz with paypal, and could perhaps show me where i'm making an obvious mistake, i'd still consider using them in the interim until we can be certain it's worth our while forking out for worldpay or similar.

    Hi Nick,

    Before I start... Welcome to the forums :)

    We have lots of experience in setting up Paypal buttons and if you don't want to try this again yourself then one of our guys can have this done in a jiffy.

    If you would like another go yourself then post your code and error message/where it seems to be going wrong and lets see if theres something obvious :)

    thanks! I've been chipping away at this and a couple of other problems for a while -- then it suddenly occured to me that there would prob be other people out there.. duh.

    OK. A quick summary of my problem is this: My account is unverified, but the email address is 'confirmed'. I originally created two encrypted 'pay now' buttons, following the steps carefully etc -- and one of them worked, (I have made a successful payment) and one of them didn't. Ever since then, I have not been able to create a button that worked. I have checked the working button against the non-working button and they were identical (barring the encryption, naturally!) When you clicked on them, they would takee you to an 'Abort' page, giving a 'sorry that we are experiencing temporary difficulties' error. I am now creating un-encrypted buttons and they still don't work -- when you click on them, they link directly to paypal's homepage.

    As far as I can see (although my HTML skills are limited) -- there's nothing vital missing, and nothing extra been added that might bugger them up...

    The annoying thing is that if that first working button had been unencrypted, i could have jst copied and pasted and altered a few variables!

    Well, the obvious problems looking at that page regarding the lower two buttons not working are ...

    1 you've changed the "cmd" parameter to "cmd2"
    2 you've changed the submit name on the image to "submit2"

    fix those and the buttons start working

    Not sure about the subscription - not had cause to set those up for a client yet - will do some testing and let you know - can you "pm" me the un-encrypted subscription code for testing against.

    I've just signed up to this forum and was obviously drawn to your posting because of your mention of NOCHEX.

    Hopefully you'll see that although PayPal is well known we at NOCHEX are a bit more accessible, and in my experience, all other considerations being similar customer service and communications is a major differentiator.

    Hi I have just joined as I am looking to change my shopping cart and am looking for recommends...so will be searching thorugh in a while. But this one caught my eye.

    I use Paypal and NoChex but just have the buttons on the thank you page so they can go and pay their order however they wish. Most people do use Paypal but some of that may be becuase many of my customers already use Ebay, but I do have some using NoChex. Each have their pros and cons.

    I prefer the download of info from Paypal than NoChex but both are fine really, and also like the idea of having more than one email address acceptable on an account with PP. Apart from that the fees are pretty similar, and withdrawal facilities similar too. I get the order number included in the script, and from memory the Nochex buttons were easier to create.

    Have you got your buttons sorted now?

    Hi Carolyn,

    I assume you've directed your question to me?

    The simplest way to proceed if you're planning to add a new shopping cart is to use one that is already integrated into Nochex.

    This will make the process very easy in that you won't need to add any buttons and your customers will be directed to the Nochex payment pages from your checkout page.
