wire transfer to US

i usualy use my bank for wire transfers but i have a bigger amount to send, looking at natwest exchange rates its going to cost a huge amount

i need to send around $4000, any other options worth looking at to get the best rate as natwest is looking about $1.30 to the pound

dealt today at 1.48 bit of a difference from your 1.3 natwest offered you when on the 12th the rate was actually around the 1.38 levels...

I would suggest using a Forex company (we use a company called AFEX). Companies such as this come in a couple of points cheaper than the banks. If you made the trade now you'd get something like 1.46.

We sent $19,000 to a supplier in California two weeks ago using AFEX. Very happy.

I'm sure there are plenty of other companies around too.

company I use (rationalfx) gave me 1.49 earlier and the interbank was 1.4958 no other company has quoted me as tight as that.

What I never understand about these companies is the contracts they offer. If I wanted to send a one off payment of, say, US$2000, then would a contract even be needed????

we only did a one off not problem.

you dont need a contract, but you do have to register with them as they have to verify your id.
