How do I put music on my iPod?!

    Yeah ok, a really dumb question, I know.
    I used to have a Creative Zen and that was pretty straightforward, but I just can't see an option in iTunes to tell it which songs to put on my iPod, and it doesn't look like you can drag and drop either.

    Delta was no help either, on asking him how he got the existing music on the iPod he just said "the computer just did it." Thanks, love:cool:

    erm....I have no idea how to download anything...sorry cant help...

    I hope someone comes along and gives you an answer.

    You should be able to just drag albums or songs from the library to your Ipod, providing your Ipod is showing on the left hand side.

    EDIT: Is your music showing in the Itunes Library?

    If it is showing (the music and the Ipod is on the left), what happens when you drag it across?

    There's two ways to manage your music on the iPod.

    The first one, and the one iTunes wants you to use and most people use is the "I give up, manage my music for me ya bas5ard!" mode. This mode will automatically synchronise music from your iTunes library to your iPod library. In the iTunes library you just tick what you want, then synch the iPod.


    The way I do it is by disabling all that crap. I manually manage my music by copying from the iTunes library to the iPod library.

    I always use manual sync. If you ever plug your Ipod into a computer running Itunes with no music it deletes the lot.:mad:

    *rotfl* That would have been my answer too! I just plug it in and iTunes adds whatever I have put on to it - it goes automatically.

    Yes, I found this - it wanted to delete Delta's music off it, but I simply want to add music on top of this and it doesn't like that.

    Yes music is in the library. If I drag it over to the iPod on the left, I get a 'not allowed' icon :(

    I think to drag and drop you need to click on "Enable disk use" somewhere in the settings

    First things first, I would set Itunes to Manual Sync. If you click on the Ipod to get the settings I think it's in there (don't have it on the PC I'm on right now).

    It might be something to do with DRM - If you bought the music from Itunes you might need to do something to confirm the account you used to buy it before being allowed to put it on the Ipod.

    If you want to copy the music back off the Ipod onto the computer let me know - I had to do that recently and it took a while to figure out.

    UPDATE: I think as the Ipod has been use din another computer that is what causes the 'Not allowed' error. You may need to copy the music off the Ipod to the computer you are trying to use, then allow Itunes to wipe the Ipod and re-copy the music over, but I'm not 100% sure yet so I wouldn't risk it.

    Nope there's about 25gb free!
    I think I'm going to copy Delta's music from his laptop to my PC and then let iTunes wipe the iPod like it wants to do. Grr, am liking my new toy, am not liking the interface!
    SFD I will have a look for that option ta....

    Oops missed your post yes I think that's the easiest thing. What a palaver. Who said technology is supposed to make our lives easier?! :D

    It's also taken me two months to find out how to stop Itunes from displaying the same album fifteen times, once for each song. I found the answer when I added the word 'annoying' to my Google search!:D
