Yell.com- advice

I posted a thread in the legal section about yell.com,

Was wondering if anybody else had a similer issue with yell.com as they have recently changed their layout.

I had an sponsered listing on the right which was not working as people didnt see it, i complained and they sold me a listing on the left for increased price of £1500

A month later an they change their layout and the adverts on the right are now gone anyway and have been moved over to the left, this means i paid £1500 for nothing! and people on the left who have paid half of what i have are now in the same position as me.

I believe yell have breeched their contract, even though they say they have not, anybody know what will happen if i decide to stop paying them or any ideas on what i might be able to do

Tommy

Or any suggestions

If they are not giving you what you have paid for, then surely thats a breach of contract, which inturn gives you the right to cancel your order.

On a better note, if you would like a banner on yourlocaltrades let me know!
(no-where near that £1500 price bracket!! AND a choice of any of our 1000+ pages!)

The guys trying to fix a problem with an expensive advert, isn't really an opportune time to do this.

Besides, he might pay less than £1500 but how many people use your site compared to Yell, exactly?

DO NOT follow Yourlocaltrades advice. If you cancel your order - it will be you who is in breach of contract.

Yell must be given reasonable communication and opportunity to correct the described variance to written contract.

How do you work that out?? thats exactly what i done!!

After a phone call or 10, they actually agreed that i no longer was recieving what i originally signed for, so complain, listen to a few people talk b**l**ks and then there we have it, a breach is a breach!!

If you aint getting what you paid for, END OF!

So you gave them an opportunity.

This is simple contract law. Nothing to work out.

Minuteman Press is right.

As far as I'm aware, companies aren't allowed more than one sponsored listing in the same area and class, so TW probably SHOULDN'T remain there anyway.

If you make it clear you're not happy due to the changed layout as far as I'm led to believe, you should be allowed to cancel.

If you or they cancel make sure everything is in writing or they may still pursue the debt.Im currently in this situation with another well known firm who now deny that i cancelled for the reasons i did (mis-sold) and are trying it on with a debt reovery company.

Take legal advice rather than hearsay. A member "lucyauty" on here is good.

Yeah, im not sure exactly what to do. I was paying about £1600 for an advert on the right so it is an extra £1500, so £3100 to a small business on advertising is a lot of money.

I have spoke to yell who say they have done nothing wrong, my problem is that i had one competitor with me on the left now i have 2, so thats 50% more competition and when the new guy is paying half of what i am then that gives him a chance to catch up with me and therfore is detremental to my business. Therefore its a loss my business which i feel is a breech of contract.
