Does anyone know or where I could find out how many libraries there are in Britain?

If anyone does know or can direct me I would be very grateful.

Why not go to your local one and do some research, that's what they are for

I haven't been to one for years, was going to go to mine a few weeks back but i've forgotten what it was I wanted a book about now!

Might be tricky to find accurate info - there are huge closure programs as well as community volunteers taking over others.

It is indeed a tricky one and a lot of the libraries don't seem to have websites anymore and so it may be better to find a list of councils and go onto their websites to see if they have libraries and where they are.

It is for a potential forthcoming venture but this is in its early stages. I went into a library in the last few weeks after not going into one for years and years and it set us thinking.

A quick search pulled up several lists, but I don't know how up to date they are.

A data supplier will be able to give you the counts I should imagine, theres a few on here
