How far away from the house have they been planted?

An Oak tree will grow to 24m (78FT) in height and should be planted approx 30m (98ish ft) away from the house as a safe rule of thumb for distance.

The only claim apart from light you could have is damage/garden invasion by the roots but that ain't gonna help you at this stage.

it's definitely anti competitive but hard to prove. bring on the hurricane!
This seems like one of the few instances where the only way to get a just result is to deal with this yourself. Whether it be salt/matches or waiting until they have their vacation and getting a tree surgeon in (and blaming it on the local council if they ever ask if you knew anything).
