Computer businesses

Hi

I'm interested to know what opinions are from anyone here who runs a computer business or knows about the area. Is it still possible to make money from?

The business that I made another thread about buying has an additional property and I was thinking of using my expertise (building, repairing) to try and expand. The problem is that I have never run a business in computers, so I'm not sure of there is a market for support, repair or building. I also thought about maybe just selling consumables and components.

Can anyone offer me some insider experience?

Consumables and component suppliers have to compete with the likes of pcworld who appeal to the mass market who dont know any better, and the experienced buyers will be buying consumables and components online much cheaper than any local shop can provide, so its also a fairly small market unless your really, really good.

Find a niche in the computer market and run with that. What about putting together PC's in different materials. How about a PC looking like a really old telly .. big wodden case. That could be pretty retro and cool in some peoples homes.

What about a PC case made from welded bits of scrap metal. That could look pretty good in someones bedroom. Maybe.

To make money in that market I think you need to get creative and think outside the box.
