Mark Attwood - anyone heard of him?

He does make money through online marketing, but if its SEO you are trying to learn I wouldn't recommend him. You will pick up some very bad habits. You'd do better to go to A4UExpo and seeing some of the industry leaders talking. More expensive, but the value you get from those two days will be worth it.

I would go he is in the Oxford Wealth Club isn't he soon?
I have met him and am aware of his work very much and have watched an online meeting with him, so yes I know he is very knowlegeable in this area indeed.
He was responsible for more than 10 million turnover, with topskips.com

The event was - sort of my idea.
And the implication here..
That mark would do anything to make money is OUTRAGEOUS _ I hope you withdraw it with the same veracity with which you made it.
Mark built the top triangle empire, and Vince chose to reveal many of the related hire niches as credibility for their SEO Program
Mark also had property interests and websites although his partner in that venture and he have parted ways.
Mark has "a few Hobby" sites - related to his interests - dont we all?
Mark now does SEO on an equity split for chosen clients
Mark now also mentors SEO and internet marketing
Where in that is the implication that he would do anything for money.
As I said --- outrageous accusation.

Maybe that didn't come across as I meant - bit of a broad statement. What I meant to say is that Mark is very profit-focused and will do what he thinks makes the most money. On the other hand you have people link Rand Fishkin who are profit-focused, but are more interested in building a name.

He did not say Mark would do anything to make money, he said
"There are a number of branches to SEO; one of which is the do anything to make money online branch."
He was talking about SEO, not mugging old ladies, and having had a mooch around one of Marks his sites recently I agree with him.

Rand runs / owns SEOmoz.
I think David meant build a name as in a sustainable brand / site rather than a SERP's smash and grab.
I dont follow Rand myself... Im doing the higher risk easy money smash and grab stuff same as 90% of the "SEO's" in here, but with my own sites.
If I were paying an SEO to work on my business site, or doing work for other people I would want something a bit more Randish... i.e. higher quality, lower risk... long term.

This is what I meant - different approaches. Mark's approach doesn't appeal to all people or fit all sites. It's not a criticism. I've read a lot from Mark's blog and the kind of things he promotes are what SEOs who don't subscribe to his approach would tell you not to do. Things like article spinning; whereas some SEOs would tell you that is great link building, other would maul you for such a thing.

Its all about balancing what works now, and what will work indefinitely. The most effective SEO campaigns do BOTH.
I'll be at the oxford wealth club event with Mark, come and say hello if you're coming.
Obviously I'm not one to comment on who/what Mark is - Since he's my business partner... but he wouldn't be my business partner if I didn't rate him completely. I wouldn't have moved from Australia to work with him without a pretty bloody solid set of reasons.
Also, when you get Mark, you don't just get Mark, you get lots and lots of other peoples expertise, including my own. Mark isn't a one man band, he's a big personality with a big team.
I'm pretty sure the oxford wealth club event is sold out already regardless...
Mark has annoyed quite a few SEO and internet marketing companies because he tells it how it is, and often outs BS'ers. Thats why he sometimes gets negative stick from... guess who.... IM and SEO companies....
