View Full Version : 0845 or 0870 Please Advice
I want to get 087 or 0845 number for new business start-up. Actually I cannot differenciate between these two Can anyone recommend a good and reliable provider? What I want is that all incoming calls should be answered professionally with a customised message automatically, because initially I will be working evenings and weekends
Any advice is welcome
Thanks in advance

Hi,
http://www.switchboardservices.co.uk
You can type your message and it will answer the phone for you and say whatever you type (or record), divert calls anywhere or take a message and email it to you as an mp3 etc..
Rob
Thanks everyone for the quick response. The http://www.switchboardservices.co.uk sound very interesting I will contact them for more details.
Hi bq
I use quicktele and their service has been fine.
The also offer a fax to e-mail service which eliminates the need for a fax machine, especially if you have the standard fax software that comoes with most operating systems.

You might want to have a look at
http://www.voiptalk.org
Interesting service - I use them for an 0207 number that follows me around as I am working - they can provide numbers anywhere in the UK very cheaply and you can have as many as you want diverting to you, your mobile , colleagues etc

I have used skype since it came out - but the more I learn about what it does to your PC the less interested I became. I uninstalled it about a month ago after I discovered it chewing up my bandwidth.
What I like about voiptalk is that I can redirect calls based on times, situations, and who is available.
For example - I can route an incoming call to my PC (if it is connected) if that doesnt work it will try my office number in guildford if that isn't answer it sends it to my mobile and if that goes unaswered it diverts to voicemail.
between 7:30pm & 9am it diverts to voicemail and I receive emailed wav files or I can dial in and pick them up using my mobile.
total flexibility - and cheaper than skype to!

Hi,
You will probably get numerous replys to this as Non Geographic Numbers are "give-aways" in the telecom world. Take some care in your choice as most are "vanilla services" i.e. just number translation - transferring a call from a 08 number to your STD number.
Consider the following:
0845 numbers is a local call service - the calling party originates the call and pays a local call charge, you the 0845 number owner pay the balance of the call. With some service providers you may be offered a rebate that may go a little of the way to offset this completion charge.
0870 numbers is a national call service - the calling party originating the call pays the full amount for the call (equivilent to a national call) - you the owner of the 0870 number may get a rebate based upon the total billed minutes to this number
OFCOM carried out research on 08 number in 2003 anf their survey revealed that the general public are still confused as to what they would pay by dialing a 0845 or 0870 number. Recently the NHS have been restricted from offering 0870 numbers - 0870 number can generate a small revenue stream
Really the REAL value of 08 numbers is how they can manage your calls. Different service providers offer varying levels of network intelligence.
I work for a Telecommunications Company who offer the user the ability through a 08 number to totally manage their inbound call handling in real time - calls can be answered with pre-recorded messages, routed to their mobile, or any other landline number - calls unanswered can be retained as Voicemail or Email. If you subscribed to BlackBerry through us you could manage both voice and email messages allowing you to be totally in control wherever you may be geographically (UK or Aboad) - you can set out of hours routing, Time/day routing and change this at will at any time.
If you need to find out more about this drrop me an email: stuartburns@gcicom.net with your contact details and I would be happy to send you more detail.
I hope this helps
Best Regards
