Apart from utilising a Franking Machine which I can't justify from working from home as our postage is not that huge, or going down the post office (which require's a 30min wait in a queue to get my post stamped) or buying a shed load o stamps.Does anyone know of a postage software which allows us to buy postage say over the net or get billed for it as we use it.

This would mean we only need to weigh the item and stick a printed stamp on it!!

There are many system in the U.S. but nothing that I have seen in the U.K.

Royal Mail do Smart Stamp (http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/onlinepostage?pageId=olp_intro&catId=600023) - sounds like it'd suit you pretty well.

We use SmartStamp and it works quite well for us - you get a better quality print than a franking machine too.

Is it cheaper to buy stamps this way? I appreciate the hassle it saves but having looked at he website it is not obvious that you get the discount usually offered to stores for selling stamps so it looks like it costs you an extra 5o quid a year.

No discount on buying stamps from SmartStamp I'm afraid, there is a discount on first class with a franking machine (from 1p) though.

No, smartstamp doesn't save you any money - stamps cost the same as they would anywhere else and it also costs £4.99 per month to use the service.

Cost aside, I love Smart Stamp. I'm far too lazy to keep going out to buy stamps all the time, and it also lets you print your logo and slogan beside the printed stamp, which I like. I used to sell a lot on eBay, and Smart Stamp saved my sanity - absolute bliss to not have to stand and queue in the post office every day!
