Hi there
Not being funny but your site is very slow and doesnt really say much to me about your capabilities.
Anyway thats just my opinion.
No offence intended.

Not another company telling everyone how great they are but at the same time saying they will beat anyone on price! If your that good then don't focus on being cheap. Stuff that breaks the first time you use it is cheap, books nobody wants to read are cheap. Almost everyone has an experience of buying something cheap and being disappointed. Less focus on price more focus on benefits of your service i would say.

Just for a laugh, I took a look at the source code for their front page. No wonder the page is so slow. Talk about archaic and convoluted. Wow.
I think they really need to improve their store before selling to others.
They may be good graphic designers (although this is not obvious to me) but on the evidence of their own website, they are not even off the starter blocks in terms of web site development.
Nice of them to post the advert though :-)

Under the hood, your site is much much better Eagle. (Although you really should stop using FONT to set the colours.)

Sorry to be a bit dense here but I don't know anything about web design so I don't know what language Epiphany and Eagle are speaking :D :D

Ok, I won't say CSS. I saw the smilies. For other readers though, it takes longer to write and maintain code using old style markup like FONT tags than it does to use simple style settings. Use of FONT tags and the like also increases page sizes. Styles make it easier for the search engines to see the real value in your pages and simplifies matters for anyone needing accesibility assistance (large fonts, better contrast, screen readers, etc.).
No doubt you will get around to it and do a better job than an automated tools do (not least because it becomes more obvious how much of the code is redundant and you can fix that quickly, you can use better style names, and avoid the use of span): <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

Cheers. :) Know any good resource sites for CSS novices?
kyber

My old post (http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=3784#3784)on building a web site has some useful links that will get you started on the background to this and then a search for Introduction to CSS on Google will list many useful sites.
Personally, I find it a lot easier to understand and use than old style markup. Much more suited to designers as well even though the control (or rather the quality of browser support) is not all it could be at present.
There are some very good books out there. I forgot the ones I read to get started - I am working in Ireland at the moment building 400Gb analytical cubes - but will have a look when I have a chance. [Yup, sent me a reminder.]
If you are using Dreamweaver (and possibly even if not) I very strongly recommend the Foundations (http://www.projectseven.com/books/foundationsmx/index.htm)ebook from Project Seven (http://www.projectseven.com) as a very pragmatic way of getting into using and abusing css whilst getting on with things.

Just remembered one of the books I read: Cascading Style Sheets (http://www.glasshaus.com/bookInfo.asp?bookId=59) Recommended. It looks like they are doing an update; check out the home page for details of the new publishers.... found it (http://www.friendsofed.com/books/159059231x/).
There are some brilliant pointers for you on the web site (http://www.thenoodleincident.com/) of one of the authors.

Chris,
Thanks for posting your message on this board. From my short time spent frequenting this place, I've learned that there are a lot of web designers present - so don't be surprised at all the feedback. Don't be discouraged either, because you'll see from other threads that everyone is willing to offer advice and to provide help.
I did want to point out one error in the content of your home page - it will be simple to correct. The quote should read:
"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." T.S.Eliot (with only one L)
Good luck with your venture.

Not another company telling everyone how great they are but at the same time saying they will beat anyone on price!
While it is usually the case that a company must either differentiate or compete on price (one of Porter's laws as I remember), it is not universally true. Some companies are able to offer both greater value and a lower price. If you don't believe me, spend some time reading "Blue Ocean Strategy" by Kim & Mauborgne. I recommend it; it's a great book.
