I think if you can get to sell your cheaper stock then you will do alright but it has to be a least 20% cheaper than high street to get market punters to buy you have to remember why they shop there?

Markets are having tough times overall, but they are a cheap way to try a new channel. If you can make it pay try it, but standing most days will also possibly limit your other activities, nothing a mobile connected laptop can't cure.

I used to pack my orders and work on my website during the quiet periods on market days.

Don't confuse "takings" with "profits".

I don't know what your margins are but it sounds like if you take £60 a day you might possibly cover your rent but you will be working for nothing, whereas if you put those hours into a job on mimimum wage you would probably be making about £220 per week - so your business might be costing you money!

I would say give it a miss. I don't believe there is enough "foot-fall" in Birkenhead indoor market to warrant a rent of £100 a week. If you take that "foot-fall" you would be very lucky if more than 10% were potential customers as most of the people who use that market are of the older generation.

well i was talking a total being 360 pw yeah i see what you mean i would be eraning £160 pound a week to myself before tax and NI if you take rent and replacing stock .

what do you mean by foot-fall the rent is high it works out to 17 pound per day i take on your view and mabye it would better finding a market in a more profitable area ?

Footfall is the number of people who walk through.

Having worked markets over a few years, the smaller quieter ones can be the best.

Only way to find out is to give it a try, but you obviously need your target client using the market. It might be worth trying a couple of Saturdays first before committing to a weeks trading, personally I doubt several days would be worth it on a small market in your line of merchandise.
