Hi, my website has just undergone 10 months of optimisation and I don’t have enough of a knowledge of SEO to evaluate how effective it has been. I would welcome anyone having a look and giving me their opinion. Have all the basics been covered? What areas are lacking and need more attention?

The site is www.notanangel.co.uk (http://www.notanangel.co.uk/)

Cheers, Jon

Quite a good site. If want to promote your site then you need to advertise your site by doing blog posting, blog commenting, forum posting, testimonials, classifieds, article submission, directory submission to ralevent sites. You can also give an option like image gallary catagory wise.

The answer quite simply is no, all their work has not been effective.

The most important element is the page title. A good page title can make the difference between a page 1 postiton and not being in the index at all. Your page titles are formatted like this:

Product > Not An Angel > Category> Sub-Category > Not An Angel

If the SEO company was any good this would be the very first thing they should have changed to make it more relevant to the search patterns of your potential customer.

Ask the SEO company for details of what changes they have made to the site and how those changes have improved your ranking.

Hi ,

your site just got less than 212 backlinks . We can achieve this in less than 1-2 months . What all are your keywords? are you getting traffic or search results for that keywords?

Yes, I agree with the other guys, very poor SEO work, you're missing out on potential customers by poor SEO, you've got so many categories that you can be optimised for that you could cover the whole of your industry product keywords, but you're missing out.

Give your SEO a "boll**ing* it's costing you.

Good luck

Iain

Well after about 6 weeks they said the on page optimistaion was done and it was all about off page optimisation, however the only links I can track down that I haven't done myself are someone spamming random forums with a signature link to me. They say that is not them and they dont do that but who else would bother, and if its not them where are the links?

I asked them this and they said although it was an unusual request they would issue me a linking report, 2 months on and I am still being promiesed this, guess they cant find much to write on it.

keywords are Sex Toys|Dildos|Discount Vibrators|Adult Sex Toys|Erotic Toys, I actually rank 1st page for dicount dildos and only get about 3 people a month for that, the rest is al very poor over the last 6 months I have ranked for sex toys in wild swings from between 99 and 400.

All in all only about 25 unique visitors a day on average.

It is becoming obvious that there talk of things take time to have an effect is just them talking, when I first contacted them I had only a very vague idea of what seo was, the more research I do the more I realise what a total waste of both time and money they appear to be, shame raelly you would of thought that anyone ranking 3rd for the search term seo would be compitent.

Thanks for the opinions I have now gathered some info so next time I speak to them I can actually tell them why I am unhappy.

Cheers, Jon

I think you (they!) should have researched and selected your keywords more carefully - we get most of our sales from 3 word keyphrases, but I've worked on optimising for an awful lot of them! Instead of sex toys and dildos why not choose keyphrases that are slightly less compeitive where you can get on the first page of Google with effective on and off page optimsation? Type keyword suggestion into google, and you'll find their kyword suggestion tool - type dildo into and you'll see a whole raft of suggestions - I'm sure with a little work you could get page one results for some of these terms and reap the benefits.

I would ask your seo company to confrm the exact keywords they have optimised for, and how they have tracked results, and what successes they have achieved. Your page rank is the same as my main site and all our sales come from natural searches, so you certainly should be seeing a massive increase in quality traffic if they have done any work properly. Have you tracked visitors numbers during the time they worked on th site? If so then you should be able to see if they've made any sort of difference at all.
