Good morning,
I am carrying out some research on the businness accomodation market, can I have some feedback on the advantages and disadvantages of staying in hotels whilst away on business.
Due to the current climate, would you, as business people rent rooms in private homes whilst away on business?
I would appriciate your comments.
Many thanks

Hi
I book accommodation for my colleagues at work and do not think that they would want to be in someone's home. In the current climate there are still affordable hotel options. We tend to stick to a particular brand so that we know, wherever I send them they will be of a similar standard. We have never thrown money at hotels and always edge towards the more budget brands.

Try Travelodge, Ibis, Premier Inn or a good B & B....there are enough hotel rooms available at the moment and you can negotiate a good rate where ever you want to stay.

There is zero chance that business travellers will stay in people's homes.

I would not stay in someone's home, it has the hit & miss feel of hostels.

I think I'd rather sleep in my car.

I won't be staying in anyone's home. I prefer the security of a good hotel.

i agree, i run a travel website (amongst other things) and all my business clients only book hotels. They need to know the bed is clean and comfortable (important for their next day meeting); they can get Internet access (not always possible staying with a family); noise free (no kids running around); secure; central etc etc. Maybe in very expensive cities there could be the odd client looking at this (and some places are v expensive - Moscow for example). Also to consider is that some hotels give a business representation and yet are tardy and dated and uncomfortable. Some hotels in Central Bratislava spring to mind. Their i would rather stay with a family as good business hotels are expensive.

On occasion I have stayed in small B&B's, sometimes they are unbelievably good, other times it feels a bit like someone else's home which is terrible. I would never want to stay in someone else's actual home! I would pay handsomely to avoid it in fact...
Premier Inn are absolutely unbeatable for reliable quality and price - they also always have a decent bar/restaurant. For an average £60 or less, more like £40 to a business, why would you want anything else? Given there current rate of expansion I would say there formula is close to perfect now.
For anyone feeling very cheap Travelodge, Ibis etc although more basic is still pretty decent.

None of my clients would be up for staying in someones house. I have some that only go 5 star but most like the good old Travel Lodge or Ibis. They know what to expect and the price is right.
I have seen a few apartments for rent on a nightly basis though and I can see where this may appeal if you were staying somewhere for a few days.
The contractor market might be different though as I know builders that work down south and rent a room in a house mon-fri. Not the same thing really though I suppose.:)

Jenni and I had to go to Birmingham for a meeting a few weeks ago and I rented an apartment for a stupidly cheap price and it was ace, I think it was about £50 a night... Sod staying in someone else's house though.

Staying in someone elses house for one night? I assume there are websites where you can find a 'suitable' room, otherwise how on earth would you find them?
I'd get a hotel or an apartment. Inexpensive enough, and you know what you are getting, broadly speaking.
