Hi everyone,

I checked my statement online and all of a sudden I'm £130 in debt. I never went over my limit and noticed two "charges" on my statement that I never made. These are £76 and £38. Now I know I never made these payments so I'm left to assume this was taken out by my bank. How are they allowed to do that, and secondly, how do I reclaim? I'm 17 btw.

I'm also still waiting for refund to two pairs of trainers so that will make up the rest.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Mark1,

Have you contacted you bank? If so, what did they say?

No, I haven't phoned yet but I will do. I was just looking for some information that's all.

Give them a call and they should be able to tell you whether they were a bank charge or a charge from somewhere else. Find out as much info as possible from them, then if its not a bank charge have a think and make sure if couldn't possibly have been something you bought (you'd be surprised what you can forget!), and if you're convinced it was not something you bought, then call the bank again and ask them to investigate.

If it is a bank charge, ask them to explain what it is for (which they should be able to do) and ask them to refer you to the appropriate part of their terms & conditions which allowed them to make the charge.

Hope that's helpful for a start, but if they get awkward, just post again and I'm sure there will be lots of advice.

Thanks for that, I'll do that.

I'm 100% positive it's not something I've bought, plus it says "Charges" next to it.
