View Full Version : PDQ Facilities
We are about to start trading as a new company. We will be selling through party plan, at selective markets and when we have sufficient stock, online. Obviously we will need to accept switch and credit cards. When we have enquired about portable pdq machines we have been quoted various amounts of one off sign up fees and various monthly fees. The worst we feel is the demand to sign up for three years! Does any one have any advice?
Hi Baqit
This is not my specialist area but there are loads of people on the forum who are.
There are companies such as Paypal, Nochex that offer online payment facilities but I know that PDQ machines are not the cheapest option.
I'm sure someone here will be able to offer more advice, just keep watching.
if you need to take credit card payment when you are outside and about, then a portable PDQ that connects via a mobile phone is about the only real option - unfortunately this is expensive.

Hi.
You could always consider talking to a Payments and Cash Management Manager.
At the price of a telephone call you can discuss your options and the associated costs. Most of the time our packaged product is suitable for customers and when it is not then other options can be discussed.
If it turns out not to be suitable, then you have only lost the cost of a telephone call. Let me know if you want any further information, or check it out on-line.
Regards.

We use Barclays EPDQ Lite, which is a secure web based system, which you manually input credit card details and have authorised then and then.
The good thing is is that you upgrade their system for full E-commerce inclusion which will authorise payment through your web-site.
It only costs us £20.00 per month, as well as the transaction fees, which are actually very reasonable.
All you will ever need is a web-connection!!
Could you not just have a normal Internet Merchant Account and take a laptop with you? The customer would then enter their details online when you connect to the net?
Yes it sounds like it is, however depending on the circumstances the web interface may not be practical. Martin's suggestion above sounds like a fair one.
