Hi everyone,

Ive decided to start my own online radio station on my website. Im not really looking to make a great prophit from the Radio Station but at the moment the website dont make me alot of money. The hosting fees for my radio station are about £15.00 and i am open to offers for sponsorship help. Of course in return we will offer the sponsor advertising on the station and website etc. The radio station is going to be to do with Rock Music so we would like to have a sponsor in this sort of industry. I have had a few offers but would like to see if anyone else is interested. If anyone knows of someone who may be interested in sponsoring the radio it would be great if you can let me know. Also if anyone can offer any advice this would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

Craig,

I am a bit confused. Not unusual I know.

What sort of station will this be? I assume that for it to be about Rock Music means you will have to play some music from time to time (between discussions perhaps) and unless this is your own music, will you not need to pay for the rights to play music owned by someone else? Surely this will cost more than £15 per month.

Hello again Kyber,

Most of the Bands being played will be Unsigned and i will ask their permission. Alot of Bands have been literally begging me to put their songs on. As for the price lets just say i know people that gave me a good deal :D

Cheers

"Most of the Bands being played will be Unsigned and i will ask their permission"

Can I suggest that you take a look at: http://www.mcps.co.uk/ as even if the bands you will be playing are your "mates" they might want some money from you. The MCPS will definately need to know about it, because, as the old saying goes, there are no friends in business.

Good luck though, and I might be interested in advertising at some point.

Make sure you get some agreement from the bands/acts you'll play so you don't end up out of pocket.
I know the idea of being 'commercial' doesn't fit well with the idea of rock but you may want some associated business to help with cash flow (this could be venues advertising bands, music shops, clothing, jobs etc).
I have a couple of mates who still have ties in the industry and I'll see what their opinions are and post when I get them.

Hi and thanks to both of your for your feedback. Their is no problem with bands letting me play their music and they certainly dont want any money for it. Infact ive been bribed by bands offering me free cd's and t-shirts :D
