I've been sent an opportunity by a company importing a product for the first time into the UK.
It's in my sector - automotive - and is an accessory.
Don't want to say too much just yet.
The opportunity seems good, although I've not got a lot of time to be doing it. Need to split the workload.
How would you go about finding a business partner for a new venture such as this??
Any answers much appreciated.

Hi Simon,
Dont you have any friends in your sector that might be interested?

Not really in my sector to be honest!
Most that I deal with are salaried staff - not owners or proprietors.
I've got mates who may be interested but i really don't think that they'll be any use.
I set up an american car business with a friend a while back. He was very keen...... at looking at the cars and driving about in shiny new Mustangs - but when it came to selling them or doing a bit of marketing, he really could'nt give a monkeys!! Lesson learned there!
Don't know what to do though.
Have been contemplating doing it alone but i've only got limited time and it may be a bit of a half-hearted effort if that was the case!!

I think you got the right idea by posting in the forum! We have also found trade shows a good opportunity to network.
We may be interested in collaborating with you on your venture if we feel we can help and if it would compliment our business.
We have just recently established a car performance parts and accessories business which at the moment is a part-time concern. We are the official UK distributor for a German company's products, as well as source products from the States, S.America and Far East. We deal in the more specialised products such as turbo conversions; NOS to air performance filters and gauges. Recently we attended our first show at GTi Spring Festival at Santa Pod last week - which was a great success
(lots of cupra's there too!), will also have a stand at a show on the 7th - 8th of May in Ipswich. At the moment we are moving along the route of e-commerce and have almost everything setup - just moving host now. My brother and I have been involved in the industry for all our lives having family in the motor trade. My bro deals more with the sales side of things and I deal with the back-end business side as i dont know the difference between a dizzy and a rotar!
Anyhow when you are ready to discuss this further and decide to make a go of it - give me a shout.
