View Full Version : Register .it domain names at low price?

Have been surfing the net and the sites I've found charge €40 per annum to register .it domain names. I know their prices are inflated because they charge £20 a year for UK domains.

Anybody know of an English language site from which to register European domain names at reasonable prices?

Hi Nadeem

Try this link: http://www.partnershop.co.uk/shop/3912/1/?mid=40&url=

Click on domain names. You can researve .eu if you contact their order assistance.

.co.uk start from £1.99 per year and the 1st year's free if you buy hosting.

Sorry, but I haven't been able to find where to register .it domain names on the link you sent me. Could you please me where exactly on that page to click to register .it (Italian) domain names?

Try this one:

If you look at the footer on either of the links you can link to the different domains like .it, .de, .fr etc... The Italian & French ones start from €2.99

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for that.

Only problem is site is in Italian, which I'm not too hot with. But prices are about €8 inc. VAT which seems very reasonable. Will try to register even though I can't understand the language.

Thanks once again :)

You're very welcome. Sorry, I don't speak Italian either, but it's based on the same template as the UK page. French I can help you with! I'm concerned it will email you in Italian with all the information. If you get any problems let me know and I'll investigate as I am the reseller for this site (as it links from my UK page).

You could also try this email if you run in to difficulty: webcentre-support-uk@lycos-europe.com

You can researve .eu if you contact their order assistance.

From Eurid.org:-

"PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT YET POSSIBLE TO REGISTER OR PRE-REGISTER A .EU DOMAIN NAME WITH EURid AND THERE ARE NO ACCREDITED REGISTRARS FOR .EU."

... there have been a lot of people pretending that they will reserve .eu names when all they are really doing is fattening their bank accounts.

If you need a .eu name then it is worth reading this:

http://www.eurid.org/euDomainNames/howtoGetDmainName.html

Thanks for that Tim. HOwever, there was some confusion as I believe he wanted the .it domains, not .eu. Lycos are a European web hoster and did mention that you could pre-reserve the .eu - perhaps that has changed.

I only brought the matter of .eu up because you made reference to it.

No, it hasn't changed, no-one has ever been able to pre-register .eu, there is still no-one authorised to accept registrations. Lycos are a reputable company, and I would not want to imply otherwise, but ....

"The EU Commission has warned companies and consumers to avoid confusion and possible fraud when trying to reserve their '.eu' domain names with pre-registration services."

http://www.eubusiness.com/topics/Internet/dot-eu.2005-04-25

There have been quite a few scams and I suspect there will be quite a few people disappointed and out of pocket come the actual launch of .eu

No problem..... I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Azam,

I know this is an old thread but if you're still looking...

Just to let you know the .it domains are cheaper now. We can do them for £6 !

The registrar gave us a better deal!

£6 is a great price!

Still would like to register .it domain names, but the bureacracy put me off. If a customer registers through you would you handle all the admin. stuff - faxing the .it domain name registration body with a letter etc. etc.?

Hi Azam,

Have a read through the T+C before registration as the European registrars are a little different.

They are a bit stricter!

Ive got a few .it domains, take a look at http://www.netregister.biz/, I remember it being a pain in the a**e though, I have an online business in Italy and if you need any help then let me know.

Unless there is a straight-forward method to register .it domain names, we won't bother. It's not as though we are desperate to expand into an economy which is in a slow but definite decline. I just don't like the way Italy works - as stationary-direct says, getting anything done is a pain in the a**e.

They are so slow. I'm just not used to waiting two weeks to get an email responded to, which is how the Italians I've dealt with are.

The Italians can enjoy their 4 to 6 weeks holidays at the seaside, the UK and its hardworking entrepreneurs will ensure that the gap in GDP between the two countries grows bigger and bigger.

It's straight forward from our end until you have to actually deal with the .it registrars - you may have to wait while they finish a long weekend family lunch etc - and if you hurry them it's 'knee caps' ;) ...

Seriously though... Unfortunately it's how they have set themselves up!

You may like to give 1 a go and see how it is - but make sure you get your DNS right if you do because they charge for changing it which I think is awful!

Yeah I agree that the Italians are very relaxed and they can be a pain in the a**e at times, but thats just the way some countries in Europe operate, Im actually half Italian myself. Nothing is ever easy and straightforward, but if you made the effort you may find that you do well in Italy.

The Italians will enjoy their 4 to 6 weeks holidays at the seaside and when most UK entrpreneurs are dying at 40 from a heart attack from stress they will still be soaking up the sun.

Or maybe the British will have the luxury to retire at age of 34, as I'm planning to in a few months time after having worked 70-100 hours a week for most of the last 10 years?

I'm still proud of Britain and prefer the work ethic of this country to the southern European ones. This country earns its keep while some of the southern European countries rely on billions of pounds of EU assistance provided by hard-working northern Europeans. And the country is so successful because of its hard-working entrepreneurs that Brits are buying up half of Europe - just ask any French, Spanish or Italian estate agent.

Thought this thread was supposed to be about registering .it domain names?? But politics is more fun  LOL

That's too expensive. I never heard such price.
