We have just committed to publishing our first newsletter which will be issued in May and, being a newsletter virgin, I am looking for ideas about how to encourage people to subscribe to the newsletter.

I am very comfortable about writing good content, and also have a number of trusted contributors who have also offered to provide relevant articles. We have also included some 'extra bits' including an opportunity to have a go in a Ferrari at Silverstone.

BTW - The newsletter is designed to provide information and advice to innovators and people who are starting new businesses.

Is anyone aware of any tips or tricks to encourage people to subscribe to the newsletter? I am potentially looking for websites where I can list the newsletter, but am not sure if this type of website exists?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Regards,
Simon

There are any number of websites for listing your newsletter, including many for free. I can't give you any URL's off-hand, because newsletters and me don't see eye-to-eye. Place a "subscribe to newsletter" box in a prominent (but not obtrusive) location on each page, and if you offer any free services, have a "subscribe to newsletter" checkbox evident on any signup pages related to them. So long as your sure to make it simple and obvious for people to unsubscribe with a link in every letter you send, you're OK for distributing them.

Hi Simon

Take a look at www.businessbricks.co.uk for the best newsletter I have read - it is really popular with over 10,000 subscribers.

Also - have a look at www.doyourownpr.com - there is an interesting looking e-course called How to Build a Cult Newsletter. I havn't tried the course but am currently doing another e-course from Do Your Own PR which is excellent .

Good Luck
