Hi. I wasn't too sure whether or not to post this here or the internet forum, but as this is not a technical question i figured here would be ok.

I'm in the process of starting up a video production company, with a primary focus on corporate video, from exhibitions to internal training and communication. I'm currently pondering over what website style to impliment.

I know a lot of busines can depend on first impressions. So putting aside actual website content for one moment; if your company was looking for some video work to be completed and you were searching though wesites which of these styles would catch your eye.

1. templatemonster.com/website-templates/18455.html?scr_type=1&hide_flash=0&tab=32

2. templatehelp.com/preset/pr_preview.php?i=21980&pr_code=Q26Vn38V68vBY9CIBUNra62hZU0fNk

Your feedback is appreciated.

Cheers.

As a video production company you will be working in the "creative" sector. Your creativity, or perceived creativity, will position you, establish your credibility and give you your USP in that sector. Using any template negates all that. Both your examples look like templates and should be avoided: if you must use someone else's work to promote yours at least try and find an unusual one.

Agree with Dawg, avoid using a template.

If you are aiming for the corporate market then you need something different to all the hundreds of other corporate video producers.

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess what I was asking is what kind of style would a company take more seriously. I chose those two examples to demonstrate the two directions I could go in, a more creative design layout, or a more conservative business like look. I quite like the idea of have a more creative looking website and think that suits a production company, but im not sure if business would prefer to deal with other business with a more business like presentation(if that makes sence) Perhaps not the best two examples I could have chosen.

It really doesn't matter. Most people can see past the spin and will be concentrating on your products. So that's all you need to do, show that your videos are better than everybody elses. The medium that you use to present your products is irrelvant at this stage. Get the content sorted and the layout usually sorts itself out naturally.

The other thing you need to realise it the ultra short attention span of your potential clients. If your website doesn't attract their attention in 2 seconds then you are already losing the chances of conversion.
