Hi,

I run a small service business and need to update my computers and software. My old accounts software will not now be compatible.
I have a very small client list and I do not need integrated accounts.
All I require is invoice, with a 'free typying facility' as each job is different and needs a description, I do not need stock control, but a product code entry would be a very usefull.
I would also need to produce statements. I would like the software to print the stationery at the same time. Any help in finding a simple package like this would be much appreciated.

My father can program Excel to do this and much more - his website is http://www.thecjsnetwotk.com and he can be contacted at chris@thecjsnetwork.com.

Your father will give you a right ticking off if he catches you misspelling his web address.

:-)

It is a shame that people don't realise just how powerful Excel is. They spend a fortune buying MS Office and don't use a tiny fraction of its features and abilities.

I had a look at your father's site, and he really does look like the man for this.

Hi,

Many thanks for your replys, but is there not a simple piece of commercial software out there that will do what I want?

I think Sage Instant Accounts (or one of the products from that range) or Quickbooks or MS Money would all do if your needs are as simple as you say.

Pop down to PC World, I am sure you can find what you need.

Unfortunately Ivor not that does invoicing and statements AND is cheap enough to make it not worth buying one of the startup accounting packages (eg one of the cheapest is office manager from moneysoft at £79.95)

There ae cheaper invoice only packages but you then might as well do it on Excel/word.

If you want to look at office manager you can download a trial copy from

www.moneysoft.co.uk

I would take a look at the shareware offerings - there are some great little packages our there that are very targetted and do not cost a lot to register. Some are USA based but can be forced to work in Sterling. For your purposes, you do not need something designed for UK specifically but there are some around. You usually get a miminum download and try period of 30 days.

Also look out for the cover disks of some of the more business orientated business internet/computer magazines in the shops. They often give away early versions of suitable programs. (MYOB comes to mind.)

Try Easy Invoicing at http://www.easy-invoicing.co.uk/ - does everything you need at a great price (around £20).
