Hi,

I'm looking for to have some of my products photographed by a professional on a white background for my website. I need 3 images per product and have around 30 products.

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap company/person who could do this? Ideally based in the north west as this will be an ongoing requirement and therefore I want someone local.

And before you all start writing "why dont i do them myself" the answer is time, quality (basically they look crap when i take the pictures) and did i mention time?

Thanks in advance

SIXS

If you want a cost effective solution, approach your local college. Most photography students will be happy to do the work for you for a nominal fee as long as they can use the work within their portfolio. Speak nicely with the lecturer as well and you can normally use the college facilities.

I'm sorry Mr B, but I disagree. Quality pack shots are needed, and although this would seem a simple requirement it really does need someone who knows what they are doing, and someone who is very aware of the commercial aspects, (colour of product, logo not obscured by flare etc.), and students meet neither criteria. It would not be cost effective whatever the cost.

OP:Googling "pack shots north west uk (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=r6T&q=pack+shots+north+west+uk&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK|countryGB)" will give you some leads, if you haven't already done that.

Look at The Pack Shot Company (http://www.packshot.com/packshot/index.php?section=home) in London for an idea of the quality to expect and the prices to pay. Prices should be a bit lower in the NW.

I've had allsorts of quotes for photograhpy, ranging from £7 - £15 a pic or hourly rates. Some can visit you, others you can send you products to. Of course in an ecommerce world you need the best qual images you can afford. poor images could mean a disaster on the sales front.

One of the members here runs wecandobiz (http://www.wecando.biz/), i only posted about looking for image work and several contacted me.

I stil have mine to sort out :-)

Thanks for the mention!

Yep, come and add a Biz Need to our site (http://www.wecando.biz) and you'll get your arm bitten off - we have quite a few photographers.

While you're there come and connect to me (http://www.wecando.biz/profile.php?bid=20) too.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

If the products are fairly similar in size and the shot angles you require is fairly consistent then we can keep the costs to a minimum. I would estimate about half a days worth of photography.

If you would like me to quote or provide some sample shots free of charge then I am more than happy to do so. Please get in touch...

Thanks

If your requirement is likely to be long-term, I'd suggest finding a photogrpaher local to you and establish a good working relationship. Over time, you should be able to negotiate better rates if the work is regular. :)

Good point as you will want to retain the same style throughout the brochure when you update your products in the future.
Without opening a can of worms don't just base your decision on price, have a look a the photographers portfolio and if you like what you see book him/her.

I am just about to use this company, from what I have seen so far they seem very good.

Hi SIXS,

What do you call Northwest? We have used a number of guys but if I knew your location I could best advise.

Kind regards
Karen

Hi,

North West England (Preston, Lancashire) to be exact.

I am willing to pay around £5-6 per product on a simple white background. All the products will be positioned the same so should be a straightforward job for a photographer. I dont want to pay through the roof especially when this will be a regular ongoing requirement.

Thanks
