Hi all,
I paid in 2 cheques yesterday morning, one was Natwest, the same bank as me
The funds are showing in online banking but when i try to transfer some, the funds arent available to transfer
Any idea how long it should take? I assumed it would be very quick..
Thanks
Gary

I think it depends how greedy the bank is. They will probably say that it takes the normal amount of time for any cheque to clear. Think of how much money they cna make in 4 days on all of those transfers between accounts!

As far as I'm aware it is the same clearing cycle for cheques paid in at same bank, certainly is with HSBC. They'll show as credited the day they were paid in, but need to be cleared before funds available to transfer.
The only exception is when a cheque is paid in at the same branch of HSBC that it is drawn on. I.e. a customer of HSBC Stafford gives me a cheque and I go into Stafford to pay it in, or a customer of HSBC Carlisle gives me a cheque and I go to Carlisle. These ones clear overnight.

All banks normally ask for you to wait 3-5 working days. Sometimes if the the two people bank with the same bank its the very same day....
But some cashiers dont do it untill they are sent to the clearance center but some cashiers do it then and their.
