I agree! Although I have used other paid stats packages Analytics will provide a lot of functionality for free.

I recommend that you set it up in the following order (especially if you are using PPC) :

get a gmail account in your company name
set up a Google AdWords PPC account (even if you don't intend to use it immediately - it will be useful for doing all your keyphrase research and you don't have to pay anything yet) - if you use the gmail account you wont have to validate your email
go to the Analytics tab in your PPC account - open an Analytics account from here and they will all be linked.
In addition to providing your developer with the Analytics code to go onto every page of your website, you should also set-up PPC conversion tracking (eg for a sale or registration) and provide the code to go on the thank you for buying or registering pages.
If you have more than one website I recommend you go through this process again, and set-up separate PPC and Analytics accounts. This makes it easier to link accounts; so you can see where paid traffic is coming from

Once your Analytics code is active then make sure you try the customer segmentation functionality (top right above the date) - this allows you to split your results according to traffic source, new vs repeat etc.

Hope this helps

Clicky is great, it lets you follow individual visitor paths. A virtual visitor stalker. :)

We use Statcounter, really would recommend it, and it's free. You can really drill down the data, too.

To monitor traffic on Facebook, I'll suggest you try SocialDon.com as its gives you all statistics about your Fanpage. Also you can know about your competitor companies and all this for Free. Whereas by Google analytics you can monitor your sites traffic which is also free and without limitations.

Agreed, this gives detailed stats on visitors, bounce rate, referrals, etc etc.

Also if you on Google plus, it shows how many +1's you have in a specific time.

[LIST]
get a gmail account in your company name

Just to add to this...

I would always set up a Google account using an email address of the business's TLD... this is important from an authority perspective and also going forward for the use of Google Apps.

Anyone can open a Gmail account mybusinessname(at)gmail.com

only the business can open an account me(at)mybusinessname.com or verify a Google Apps account.

As for Analytics my vote is for Google Analytics, the Multi-Channel Funnel attribution modelling and reporting is excellent.

Sign up for Google analytics and webmaster tool. You can use a single account to use both systems. However, GA does not track visitors with cookies disabled, but I doubt there are a lot of people out that actually block them. Webmaster enables you to optimise your site for SEO and GA track visits (plus lots more)...
