Is the FSB a government run organisation and does it provide a free service?

It provides a paid for service as it is membership based...so even the free legal advice has been paid for in the membership, along with the free bank account at the COOP.

The FSB in Russia is a secret police... :)

But apart from that what free service are you looking for?

I suggest you go to the FSB website at http://www.fsb.org.uk

I'm not.
Someone from the FSB is currently going through my website and ringing
people who are registered with me trying to recruit new members.
As there is a fee for their membership, would this be classed as a sales call?

I presume so I suggest you phone up the FSB ask them to pay for what they are doing or to stop...if you are concerned about it.

That's not something they usually do. They're usually quite particular about not advertising and cold calling etc etc. odd.

I have had quite a few cold calls from them in the recent past. They seem quite keen to get one of their people in to talk to me and have me sign up.

Thats quite interesting as I am still waiting for them to send me a DD form so I can pay for this years subs...I keep asking and they keep saying yes, but I never recieve anything.

So as far as I am concerned I am still a member even if I haven't paid!!!

On a serious note I am starting to wonder, who is running the organisation as it can't look good a representative body unable to organise their membership renewals!!

UKSBD I should check with the FSB because I believe that the FSB use self-employed recruitment people who work on commission. It sounds as if you have one of these getting too keen and over stepping the mark.

UKSBD I really don't understand your problem.

You publish a UK Small Business Directory then complain because someone is using it to offer Small Businesses the opportunity of membership to the UK's largest business organisation. I would be flattered that they thought my Directory was a useful source to contact small businesses.

If handled properly you can use their "sales" method to increase your own sales.
