Without knowing anything about your product or your future plans I can only imagine that it needs to be hard slog.

Look for people already selling a similar or complimentary product and contact them, but do this in the most personal way possible, write a letter, not a spammy email (I delete dozons of these a day), phone and try and arrange to meet the people in person.

It may also be worth getting your self listed online but I did not find any of my suppliers this way and you run the risk of attracting a bunch of timewasters.

Then network and get recommendations.

One of the most important things you can do is deliver on your promises. Have good, accurate stock data and provide the goods ordered in a timely manner.

I have a supplier who I would love to use but their stock system is appalling so I have not grown my order book with them.

Good ideas, it is sometimes dismissively said, are ten a penny, the implication being that the really difficult part is putting them into effect. Apart from the obvious virtues of persistence, hard work and technical know-how, this also requires a modicum of marketing skill. In other words, you will have to know whether there is a big enough demand for your product or service at the price you need to charge to make a living and how to identify and reach your potential customers.
