Hi
Wonder if anyone can help me. I'm trying to set up a small business offering IT technical support and training (mainly training) I'm already working and have a good job so don't want to throw that away so I'm looking to test the water by doing things in my spare time. As far as I can see I wouldn't really have any overheads and would work from home. Unfortunately I don't have a clue what I'm doing, who I need to register with etc. Help!

Unfortunately I don't have a clue what I'm doing, who I need to register with etc. Help!

I hope you dont mean IT as well :D

Have a look around my website first and then if there are any specific unanswered questions you wish to post I'll do my best to answer them

HI

Yes, it can be daunting, but try these links as I found them extremely useful when I first started:

http://www.businesslink.gov.uk

www.fsb.co.uk

www.startups.co.uk

www.thelondonchamber.co.uk

These should be a good starting point.

Good luck!

What type of training do you do out of interest as I maybe looking for training consultants on a freelance basis in the near future. I have a back ground in training myself.

Hi thanks for the links. I'll take a look.
I'm really capable of doing anything with regard to IT training. I'm actually a teacher at the moment. I have Microsoft cert and cicsco cert. What sort of thing are you looking for?

If you want to provide IT training we may be interested in doing something with you at our office in Shaftesbury Avenue.

I'd need to learn more about the types of courses you are providing, but happy to have a look at this.

Simon

Hi,

I also would be interested in a full list of courses you could do.

I would love to add IT Training to the list of services my company can provide.

There's some great help already inputed here. annethedonn's links could be particularly usefull. The only difference I could offer is to, even if you are not after a loan, check around a few bank websites. Many offer good help on starting your own business and I know HSBC and Barclays will provide free starting packs for business.

Talk about hijacking a thread Peter :p I think we get the message....
anyway back to you Kernewek.
Best of luck with what you are trying to achieve. I am in the same boat as you at the moment. It seems to me that the first place to start looking is on the business link website and startups forum.
