Hi

I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I have on my laptop. Since upgrading my Yahoo Messenger to that with BT Communicator I've encountered a Windows Component error when the Office Shortcut bar launches at start up. This however, only happens under my master login and not other user logins. I'm unable to turn off the shortcut bar in my login as I can't access it at all. Under the other login there is no problem at all with the shortcut.

Dr Watson stated there was a problem with Yahoo & Windows office components when I checked for errors.

I have tried repairing Office, to no avail. I've tried contacting Acer & Yahoo but after the initial response(s) from them, they suddenly don't want to help me any more. Some one suggested I reinstall Office, but I don't want to lose all my emails/documents etc and wasn't sure if it would wipe these out.

Any ideas???

Anne

Hi Anne,
Firstly re-installing Office will not lose your emails and documents as they are stored separately. I would recoomend logging in as the master user and then reinstalling the messenger first, and then office afterwards. Then do an Office Update to ensure any patches are installed.

Thanks Richard.. I hope you're right! I'm a bit reluctant to do this just in case!! I do have most of my documents backed up anyway.

Here goes!

Just backup everything just incase - then no matter what happens you'll still have them
