London, March 2005 - Quantum, the business-to-business sales improvement consultancy and The How2 Organisation, the knowledge-sharing specialists, launch AskHow2Sell, the online learning portal.

The objective of this collaboration is to make real-world sales knowledge and experience available across an entire sales operation to enable users to access knowledge that is specific to their needs and relevant to their own knowledge gaps. Results so far are very encouraging with early adopters realising the benefits of regular use and integrating use of the portal into personal sales development plans.

Quantum Director Steve Jessop comments "In a business age where ‘free time’ is a rare commodity, resistance to ‘down-time’ is, understandably, a recurring theme with our clients. ‘Tell’ sessions aren’t especially effective, and sometimes significant variance in knowledge and experience levels across a team mean that there are uneven capability gaps in need of closing. In short: the goal of continuous learning which is relevant is a hard one to attain.

Clients have told us that they would like to create the kind of learning environment which:

Helps the people on the ground to continuously develop knowledge and skills relevant to them.
Is readily accessible from any location
Improves attitudes to learning by sharing new knowledge and experience.
As well as being an unusual source of sales knowledge, this 24/7 learning platform is also very likely to develop some healthy ‘conscious incompetence’ (where users realise just what they don’t know). This encourages requests for know-how tailored precisely to today’s pressing need (e.g. ‘how do I sell these two new services to my existing customer base?’)”

Stuart Allum, The How2 Organisation’s Managing Director concludes, “Having launched similar portals covering different specialist subjects, we can see that the progressive learning method used on the AskHow2Sell portal, which is aimed at any person touching the sales discipline (i.e. most of us in one way or another!) will facilitate relevant learning at the users’ pace. For example: enabling new starters to quickly get up to speed on a wide range of topics – whilst more experienced players pose dead specific ‘how do I…..?’ - type questions – the answers to which can then be shared amongst the entire user base.
Just as importantly, the team will get swift access to nuggets of advice from a group of active sales professionals who are still very much ‘walking the walk’ and not just ‘talking the talk’.”

About Quantum
Quantum is a well respected, business-to-business sales improvement consultancy. The Quantum team specialises in improving sales through the application of a suite of services -- from strategic sales planning and the assessment of in the round sales capability -- to practical hands-on assistance with the building, development and on-going management of the salesteam Over the past 12 years, Quantum has implemented major sales improvement programmes with a large number of blue-chip and niche organisations..

About The How2 Organisation (H2O)
H2O specialises in managed business services and systems that enable and empower all of the people within an organisation.

The company was formed by combining the expertise of a number of related organisations, including The How2 Knowledge Group and MCBS (Management Consultancy Business School), to become a pioneer in two areas:
 Knowledge Management
 Performance Management

The Askhow2 Portals
The core premise on which H2O’s knowledge management was founded is that the best people to identify the knowledge required, are the users themselves.

With this principle in place it was a simple case of establishing a robust methodology for service delivery, a flexible user-friendly IT platform and partnerships with the specialist companies and organisations possessing the expertise and experience needed to provide the know-how.

Each of the Askhow2 portals have been instigated and driven by the needs of the people who use them, and the content is the best available.

It was an obvious choice to partner with Quantum for the Sales Portal. H2O has been working with them for a number of years. Quantum’s experience, resources and first hand appreciation of what knowledge management can do for the sales sector makes them a perfect fit.

???????????????????????

The biggest and most obvious advert in the history of the forums I think!!

Thanks for your brief feedback Alan - it's actually an informative press release, not an advert. It's also precisely the kind of service that appeals to lawyers and accountants as it allows them to develop some sales awareness without being dragged from their comfort zones via a sales development programme. However, if you feel it's not appropriate, I'll ensure it's deleted immediately.

Polly

Without trying to tell a granny to suck eggs, have you thought about posting your elevator pitch instead i.e. a bit more direct & focused?

Oh re this is an add :

Yes its an add, but a lot of posts on here are doing the same to a smaller or lesser degree and hence we all have signatures/ contact details on all our posts.

OK Guys lets put this whole thing in perspective.

The forums are for what exactly?

They are sectioned so that users can ask and gain knowledge of specific areas with the general business (i presume) as a catch all.

There are other sections for this type of advert (Dress it up however you like , press release or whatever and last time I was on the forums it reaaly has nothing to do with the press in any way shape or form)

Our 'allowed' advertising is the subtle link and small section placed at the bottom of all replies which does not get in the way of the forums main purpose which is exchange of information.

This sort of thing is becoming (in my opinion) an unwelcome trend really amounts to spamming.

There you go thats my slant on it and I stand up to be shot down in flames by any of the other respected posters on here.

(Gets off soap box, puts head between legs and waits for the missiles to rain down :D )

OK, I'm not going to delete this thread as I think it serves a purpose. Not the "press release, as that is now overshadowed by peoples reaction. It demonstrates that great big long posts saying how great your service is are not appreciated by the other members.
There is the offers section to put an add about yourself subject to giving a nice offer to other UKBF members ;) and introduce both yourself and your service briefly in the Introductions area.

:) /me get off soapbox now too :)
