I've been offered a partnership/joint venture with a large company.
They want a 51percent shareholding.

They rely on the service I will be providing through the partnership.

is this a sensible/safe idea?

I've been told its not worth it as i could just contract myself to them with less risk.

From those sketchy details no one would have a clue as to whether it is a good deal or not!

If they could go somewhere else to obtain the service then it would at least tie them in and guarantee their custom.

If your business requires working capital and they will provide it in return for their majority shareholding its fair enough.

There are so many possibilities which we would have to consider.

If you don't need ANYTHING from them then it would be much more sensible for you to keep control of your own business and earnings potential.
