Anyone know what was used to make this ecommerce site:
http://www.sam-turner.co.uk/store/catalog/

It feel a bit like wordpress with the ecommerce add on.

Its probably bespoke, I can't see any mention to magento or wordpress in the code.

Its bloody good, and spot on for the market. In my opinion.

Anyway just thought i'd share that with you. Let me know if anyone can build very similar style wesbites! Its got the whole shadow images, apple mac, sharp/clean thing going on.

Cheers G

Nice design but nothing most ecommerces cant handle. Except perhaps Oz commerce

Looks like Magento to me.

Edit : Hmm I think I'm wrong on that unless they have done some hacking with the system. The footer is just almost exactly the same as the standard Magento footer which made me think of it.

Nice site, nice design, but nearly all the standard packages could create it. The design is good but the site itself is nothing special.

I'm with the others...nothing wrong with the site at all but not a stunner by any means.... if it works for them and their customers thats what matters but I can't see it winning any awards :)

Yes there aren't many features on the site, I just like the feel of it. i don't think you see enough sites like this. Clean and simple.

Anyone got any examples of eccomerce sites like this? What are your favorite ecommerce sites? Can't belive i just asked that! What a chat up line.

The best is John Lewis right?

Nice store, it's oscommerce.

Looking at the code it would appear to be OSC

Now that's spooky :p

About five years ago I use to work for Newsquest Northeast selling website packages. Sam Turner was one of my biggest accounts! Thoroughly decent chap as well.

Looks like Sam has made the right choice at last and moved away from Newsquest who used to force us to sell an absolute crock of *** when it came to eCommerce sites...

one warning I will always give if you choose a system that is also tied to hosting, then it is closed to you moving the site to another host in case of any disagreement.

The web is full of stories where people have had to start all over again when they have had problems with the hosting of a store.

If you choose a cart, either free or paid for then you have a part of your business that is separate, not all your eggs in one basket.

I know there are members offering "all-in plans" and people that are satisfied, but it does not hurt you to think ahead and ask "what if" and do a company that ties in hosting to a bespoke cart offer anything you can not get from a cart that is independent of host.

I am not aiming this remark at any poster individually, it is purely an opinion.

I agree. Some monthly store options are a PITA to get out of, part of the reason why our eCommerce licenses will work on any CF enabled host...

Why don't you ask the guy (http://www.allenbrindle.co.uk/)who made it?

You know I thought it might be Allen :D

Allen joined Newsquest shortly before I left. Very talented chap and I still keep in touch with him through facebook....

If he is working in the way he used to work then there will not be restrictions in place as he is one of the most ethical people I know...

It's now my second job to do exactly that. PM me your email and then when I have finished the site I'm building this week, for 500 quid, if you are convinced, I can do yours for the same price.

Hi everyone,

It was indeed me that did created that site. Phil sent me the link to this thread. Thanks for the kind words, those of you who like it!

It is OS Commerce, yes - with loads and loads of customisation. The default OSC design is a dog's dinner.

If anyone's interested in anything similar, please let me know.

Believe me, even a dog wouldn't eat the default OSC install ;)
