Hi to you all,

I am currently doing some research into the feasibility of Internet Video Commercials. Ideally I would like to target the SMB market that would not have the access to big production companies.

In order to keep the costs down, there would be no special effects used and could contain business owners acting in their own videos instead of using actors.

The use for these videos would be to introduce your new company or a product that you would like to present through moving pictures instead of using just pictures. Although there would be no special effects or trained actors the videos would be done very professionally.

Could you let me know what your thoughts on this are? I would really appreciate some feedback on this.

Gary,

I really like these... but I am biased as I make them to!
I think there is a place for them, but I think the real benefit is in Viral marketing campaigns rather than straight forward ads.

I have started doing them very recently as an add on to the normal marketing strategies that are used. At the minute we don't promote the fact we do them as we have only been comissioned to do a few (both still at production stage).

As with other marketing/advertising areas I think you will have to fight hard to alter SME owners perceptions that such an area is out of their budget range.

Thanks for the reply Andy.

So would I be correct in saying that SME owners do not see the value in Video commercials or you think that the cost of production would not justify the outcome.

Gary,

I think that SME owners do see the value but are put off from finding more details as they percieve that it may be too costly. Plus because it is such a new area of marketing the ROI is yet unknown against more tradiational methods such as direct mail or press/magazine ads.

Hope I am helping ... as I say, I think they are the way forward, if done correctly and also if the costs are kept to a minimum.
