I am a freelance Consultant with 18 years recruitment (mainly Information Technology). This is my first posting here.

I set up my company 18 months ago and have been offering consultancy and advice to the Recruitment Community – Organisations and Staffing companies. My website can be viewed at www.hecton.co.uk

My current client assignment is for an online recruitment and training company, exploring the SME marketplace for comments on a new model for hiring Temporary Secretarial and Admin staff.

I am interested to know if SME ‘s use temps regularly and if they are interested in a hiring model which reduces the cost of using and or hiring temp staff considerably.

All transactions will be web enabled and carried out online, delivering considerable cost savings on current models. If you do hire temps regularly or occasionally and are interested please post a comment. My intentions at this stage are purely to test the market for such a service, ahead of a full launch of the website.
Many thanks...

:)

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately we do not have the need for temps at present so I can offer no information from our organisation. To be fair I had not considered hiring employees on a temporary basis over the internet. I guess I associate it with meeting the organisation to get an understanding of what they offer.

I wish you success with the business.

Mike.

Hi there and welcome to the forums

Most of the temporary staff that are employed are screened by the recruitment agency not by the organisation using the service (They would be more likely to do this if the post had the possibility of being permanent or were a more expensive requirement)

I presume your model involves, a database of available candidates which prospective clients can view. database containing qualifications, c.v., references and houly rate required.

Not sure if this would work as I said the client usually expects the candidate to have been interviewed by the agency but it would be interesting to see if the model had a reasonable take up.

All you would be removing is the involvement of recruiters in the placement process.

Thanks for the feedback Alan. I'm not sure as much face to face interviewing goes on these days as you would think...however the plan is to not only remove the recruiter from the arrangement but also their quite significant fees / margins ( approx 40%).

Thanks Nigel
