Hello Everyone,
I received what looks like an invoice today from a company calling themselves United Telecom wanting payment for advertising in their directory and CDROM. This is obviously a tactic aimed at getting people to simply pay up with no questions asked, and unfortunately is a long established trick used by money companies (particularily the likes of Domain Registry of Anywhere to get people to renew their domains at inflated prices).

Keep an eye out for this folks, and if you ever receive an invoice which you don['t recall ordering the stuff for ... question it!

And forward it on to your local Trading Standards - they're always happy to deal with these sorts of scams.

Hi Ozzy

I've actually received one today(For one of my clients) and I presume I should expect a number of others as my address is used as their registered office.

The paperwork is actually an order not an invoice as such.

It really is a matter of caveat emptor.

All the individual has to do is bin it.

They must be wasting a lot of money posting these out as the only way to profit is by some unsuspecting individual believing it is for advertising that they want and ordering it
