So i was in the bank last week and they offered me a little credit card on an account that i have which i only use to pay my T-mobile contract and thats it (£50 per month).

I said okay as i was looking to buy flights for a holiday and didnt need it apart from that (as i dont have any others).

Got it today - Limit was £500.
The flights are just under £600.

Do i have any options?? or just need to do it on Debit card as its needed full payment.

If you have the money, why use a credit card?

Put the money on your card before you buy it.

I booked Vegas last year. My credit limit is £2000 but the trip was £2600. I paid £2600 on my card and then booked it. It just took my balance back to £0. That was with Lloyds TSB.

Free travel insurance? Insurance against the travel agent going bust? Consumer protection if the holiday doesn't live up to its description?

Cool, cheers!

This now might sound bloody stupid (as i hate banks and they hate me!)
How do you put money on your Credit card?

Will i put the £600 on or will i put the £100 and pay it off when its in?

Mainly just for the protection and i used to be a travel agent and so many disappeared as the middle carrier and we're going on a few "mini" flights to a music festival

Walk in and say I want to put £600 on that or I transfer it online. I paid it on then booked it.

Strictly speaking you can't (but I suspect not enough people know that to stop you)

If you want to load up your card, which is what you seem to be aiming at, some card companies are fine about it whilst others will go so far as to suspend the card (on the grounds that overpaying trips their sysytem).

Phone the card company and ask them whether you can overpay ie load up the card so as to make a purchase.

Alternatively, look the travel agent in the eye, tell him you only have £500 available, and would he like to take it or leave it? Slip £20 in an brown envelope in case those wheels need some oil.

The flight was online and direct rather than travel agent so thats out the window.. thanks though :)
