Hi!
I have been having problems with the following images on my site not appearing in IE,
http://www.visage-photography.co.uk/Advertising/advertising.html
The images appear ok in 'Mozilla Firefox' they aren't any larger than, and are the same file format as all other images on my site.
The files are there in IE, but when you right click the area where the image is located and select properties, IE can't even determine the file size.

Hi, Ive loaded up the images successfully in both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, try cleaning out your IE cache and see if they'll come up..

Hi Adam
Thanks for checking the link I posted.
I cleared the IE cache, but still no luck.
If others can view the images at their end, i'll settle for that, the problem must be with my setup.
Thanks

Can you view the images by typing their URL into the address bar?

Hi Adam.
I have cleared the IE cache but the images still don't show, all I can see are the links & icons on the L/H side & the bottom of the page, tjere aren't even any place holders on the page.
When I roll the mouse pointer over the area where the images should be, I get the small print, save, e-mail, toolbar, but each option results in a blank page.
When I right click the image area & select properties, the info is as follows
Type = not available
address URL = http://www. visage-photography etc
size = not available
dimensions = 332 x 266
ceated = not available
modified = not available
Thanks for taking the time to help

Try this:
In IE, go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and scroll down to Multimedia. Make sure Show Pictures is ticked.

Gary
I have about twenty pages with images on my site, but as far as I know it's just this one page that wont show images on my system.
What's more confusing is, I don't think the images on this page are different in format, type etc. from the others.
ps. I should have stated in the previous post that I had typed the URL into the search bar, but still without uccess.
Cheers

Well, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the page, so if you haven't checked images are on under Internet Options, you should so you can at least rule that out.
Also, under Temporary Internet Files in Tools/Options, make sure the line that says "Check for new pages every visit" is selected. The click Apply and OK. Then clear your temporary internet files and close your browser and go back to the page. Press CTRL and F5 when you get to the page to get a full refresh.

Hi
One other thought. Do you have a software firewall installed e.g. Norton etc?
If you have try temporarily disabling it and refresh the page. I have seen this sort of thing before with Norton when it thought it was disabling banner adds etc. Considering the title of your page its worth ruling out.

I was just about to say what Dotty has said... My mother-in-law had this same problem on ebay and it turned out to be only when she had both WinXP firewall and also some other software firewall both enabled at the same time (cant remember which on it was).
Try disabling your firewall if you have one.

EUREEKA!!
Oops! sorry for shouting but this forum rocks. :D
Yep, Zone Alarm was the culprit, once disabled the images loaded instantly.
Now why didn't I think of that. . like weeks ago? :?
Thanks everyone.

I can't see how ZoneAlarm would cause problems viewing images?... I also wouldn't have ZA turned off for too long! :shock:
If it is ZoneAlarm, try a reinstall - maybe there's a setting in there that's causing probs?...

Most software firewalls have a banner advertising blocking functions.
As I inferred in my previous reply I would guess that as the url contains “Advertising/advertising.html” Zone Alarm thinks that this content should be blocked.

To be honest, I don't understand it myself, I have both Explorer & Firefox on my system, and the images appeared ok in firefox.
I would have thought that if ZA was the culprit it would have blocked the images on both browsers, however as soon as ZA was disabled & the page refreshed, the images appeared as normal.
I also had a few friends e-mailed me after a previous update informing me of a problem with this page viewed with IE, however it appears ok in both IE & Firefox on my system?

I have done a bit of Googling. This seems to have come up a few times before. I don't know Zone/Alarm but apparently there is a option:
"Banner/Skyscraper"
Unchecking it seems to sort the problem out.
