Can anyone tell me their thoughts on this software.
I am looking to purchase payroll software and have seen this and read various comments????
Could I use this for multiple clients???? and as a payroll novice is this easy to use??? I have been outsourcing my clients payroll but thinking of doing it myself now.
Your honesty and opinions are much appreciated.
Louise.

Hi
I dont know anything about this software, I use Moneysoft Payroll Manager for my clients - it is multicompany and cheap! with all the updates needed.
I am also a member of the ICB and might have to stop doing payroll due to the new ML regs and the fact I will need to have payroll qualifications to be covered by my practising certificate - have you looked into this?

Hiya Louise
Another vote for MoneySoft here ... is there any particular reason you are out sourcing your payroll Louise?
:)
PS - to answer your OP, I think that the 12pay software has the website address on the wage slip that is printed out and in my view doesn't look very professional - sorry.

All I know about it is it's the only payroll product that has seamless integration with KashFlow. Never had a word of complaint from our customers that use it.

Thanks everyone.
TraceyAnn... I was not aware of that, is it the fact that you cannot do the payroll yourself if you dont have the qualification, what if your provide the service but outsource??? if this is ok then I may have to continue with that.
I will contact the ICB tomorrow to discuss this..will keep you updated.
Andy I outsourced because when I set up on my own I wasnt confident providing this service myself as I hadnt really done payroll before, but due to my clients increasing and wanting to provide more services I thought this maybe the direction to go..... the ICB may have other ideas though...
Thanks, Louise.

Do you require any payroll training to use 12 pay or moneysoft, or are they easy enough to use.
I had a look on both their websites and 12 pay is cheaper. It is also free if you're doing payroll for up to three companies.

Never used 12 pay, but it has a lot of fans on here and looks easy to use from their website.
We use payroll manager, both in the practice and we install it in clients businesses. Great product and so easy to use. No training is required really, although I often walk clients through it as I've already learned the shortcuts etc. To be honest though, you could teach yourself in no time and the help function is pretty good:)

None of our users have ever required any training. We're happy to talk people through any more complicated issue they might have, or when they're just starting off if anything puzzles them.

There is an option to remove that (and substitute your own message) for an additional £48+VAT/year. We don't publicise it much because demand for that feature has been extremely low even amongst the bureau operations that use the software.

I just noticed this comment too. To avoid any confusion the free version is unlikely to be suitable for someone looking to offer payroll services, because it only produces payslips for the first 6 payroll processing periods (after that you can carry on processing, and still get statutory reports such as P11/P32/Pay statement, etc). This limitation is fine for many small owner-managed companies, but isn't really ever going to be suitable for someone who is offering payroll services. So a bureau/accountant would need the paid-for Premium version, @£48/year.

Hi
For offering payroll services you do need to take payroll home based exam with the ICB to be covered by the practising certificate, if you have experience with payroll software and also the old fashioned manual payroll tables then it won't be a problem, the home based exam paper costs £30 and if you phone up and book paper by a Thursday then they send out on Friday each week. You do need access to a computerised payroll package of your choice. If you are not experience in computerised payroll and manual payroll then there are courses provided by distant learning colleges but if you do other bookkeeping then you should be easily be able to learn what you need yourselves by buying a practise payroll exam from the ICB for £5. I bought a practise paper just to glance through before purchasing the actual paper just to ensure I knew what was involved and I knew what to expect. I got my exam result and certiificate but have not really put it to use as too busy with other bookkeeping, VAT returns etc and managing mine and my husbands shop and gaming cafe alongside bookkeeping, to be able to find the time to put payroll bureau into place.

I to had to take the payroll exam, I had never before taken any exams for the payroll side, it was something I did in my jobs, with it being a part I do enjoy I took the exam. I was told it was a must to offer any payroll services.
I think in the ICB terms there is a part if you do outsource it has to be to another member.

Maybe its just the ICB who requires its members to take exams before they can supply payroll services. I haven't read or seen this any where else.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I will be ringing the ICB tomorrow to find out where I stand with this and shall update you all hopefully tomorrow.
Kind Regards, Louise.

The ICB are quite strict about services you provide, think it says that you should not provide any services that you don't have suitable qualification in.

Hi everyone
I have rang the ICB today and without the payroll qualifications you cannot offer this as part of your service, you cant even outsource. So in the near future I will be sitting the exam so I can provide this service but till then this is something I cannot provide.
Hope this clarifies for anybody who was unsure.
Thanks, Louise :-)

I can understand they wouldn't want members to provide the service themselves without the qualification but I don't see why members cannot outsource payroll services, doesn't make sense.

I think what it is because of money laundering laws and you outsource payroll you are still held responsible for the work. However if you recommend a payroller to your client rather then outsource the client who then pays the payroller directly you cannot be held responsible as you are out of the loop, the one disadvantage with this is if that payroller also provides bookkeeping that person may try and take your clients bookkeeping from you so if you were to go along this route you would have to trust that person.
