Hi there

Ok so I used to sell on ebay and im having a slight problem as a bunch of girls brought from my ebay 20 of them to be frank in Aug 08 and they have all gone to paypal with a chargeback and there cards saying that there costumes are fraying every single one of them and I didn’t keep the recipts what do I do?

The costumes they brought were £60 each and I cant afforf to pay back all that money and I no that they wouldn’t be fraying and the fact that every single one has come back it seems they are quite crafty!

I have 2 paypal accounts my old up and my new one do I just shut my old one down?

Any advice would be great x

Are these girls related? Same town?

The 20 problem orders - how many orders in total? What % problems do you usually have?

Little b!tches!

Ok, I'd close the PayPal account (remove any funding sources), and write PayPal a detailed explanation of the chargebacks and your actions.

Ive only ever had one dispute about me in Paypal and ive been told i was very lucky to actually Win it.

But come on.. they bought items 5 months or so ago and they want a refund??? Are they joking???

Maybe if it is a product flaw you should have a check but i mean they bought them 5 months ago

Paypal will find in the girls' favour. I personally despise Paypal and am shocked that it is still allowed to operate in this country. How can a company offer a service in the UK and then locate it's headquarters in Luxembourg to avoid regulation?

Phone Paypal and speak to them. Write down who you to speak to and the time. If you want to speak a senior person they will tell you no one is available and they will call you later, that later is about 2/3 days later. Don't accept this - ask to speak to one immediately if you need to.

Unfortunately common sense does not prevail with Paypal. They will never listen. It is best just to leave them and put them on your 'never to deal with ever again' list, along with Ebay.

I'd say the best thing to do is contact paypal, they're usually pretty good at resolving issues like this.

12Pay has had 3 chargeback attempts in the last year. 2 of them were ruled in our favour by Paypal and the card issuer, and in the other one we're still waiting for the ruling. Frankly I'm quite surprised at Paypal's bad reputation with sellers in such matters, because they've been extremely sensible and helpful with us, particularly when we call the helpline and talk to them.

They certainly could do, yes. However, I wouldn't risk £1200 worth of chargebacks - PayPal may find in your favour, but they may not.

I think it would really be worth getting a business bank account, and starting to pay your suppliers by BACS. Far better than PayPal.

As long as you have a vaid query they wont shut your account down. Reason being is they would be forever shutting accounts if they did so whenever people complained.

Get in touch with them and let us know how you get on.

I would also recommend getting in touch with paypal.

I seem to remember a few years ago customers only had 90 days to complain and after the 90 days it is not enforcible when they use paypal and ebay.

Transactions older than 45 days cannot be disputed so cannot be escalated to chargeback so I would just write to them and say they have passed the time limit for refunds and returns.

Agreed, I didnt realise until recently their 'buyer protection' of upto £500 is only valid if they can recover the funds from the other party so its no protection at all and they dont mention this in their advertising or mark it with any form notification (like an asterix) to point to the T's & C's, disgusting!

I only had one major problem with Paypal. Emails got me nowhere and only after several weeks and a 30 minute phone call did they sort it.
