Question from a mate of mine who is about to buy a new laptop PC...
He wonders what the difference is nowadays between AMD processors (in particular Turion) and the more traditional Pentiums.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks

I've always 'heard' that AMD's were slightly faster than the intel equivalent, but not sure if that's
a) true
B) still exists
... so all round, not very helpful of me! :(

We sell 10x more Intel than AMD.
Personally it depends on what you want to do with it.
Our servers are AMD and laptops are Intel.
Intel seems slightly more stable and the dual and quad cores are much better for laptops.
Our customers suggest that AMD are great for the cheaper systems and gaming (go figure) but if they want to do mid to high end they always go for Intel.
I hear that the new chips from AMD are supposed to be better, but will wait and see.
